Emergency Management Plan

"The function of emergency management at the local level is to plan and prepare for various emergency situations that could impact the Township. Emergency management is a function of local government that does not receive a significant amount of attention, until an emergency arises that requires the services of emergency management personnel. While the Township has already developed an emergency management plan, the Township continues to revise and update its emergency management plan to insure that it will effectively meet the needs of the Township in the event of an emergency.

Official emergencies are declared by the Board of Commissioners or in their absence, the Township Manager. Once an emergency is officially declared, the Emergency management Coordinator is officially notified and he begins to implement the necessary components of the plan to address the situation at hand.

Currently, the Township has appointed a citizen committee to assist with refining and further developing the existing emergency management plan. The members of this committee, in addition to bringing specific knowledge and various backgrounds to the committee, are currently undergoing mandatory training for emergency management. The committee also plans to conduct mock emergency management drills to insure that the develop plan works as planned and to ascertain any weaknesses in the plan.

The current committee for Emergency Management are as follows:

Gene Komondor ~ Emergency Management Coordinator
Mitch Astalos  ~ Assistant Emergency Management Coordinator
Rod Mahinske ~ Assistant Emergency Management Coordinator
Harry Pawluk
Chuck Snyder
Glenn Witherspoon
Herman Sieber
Charles Henaghan
