WASTE MANAGEMENT CONTRACT
North Huntingdon Township has entered into a four year contract with Waste Management, the low bidder and current refuse hauler, for both residential and commercial solid waste collection and recycling services. The new agreement will run from 2012 through 2015. The monthly cost for residential collection will be reduced from the current $17.91 monthly rate to $13.35 per month in 2012. The rates will increase slightly each year up to $14.59 per month in 2015. A fuel surcharge provision may change these rates slightly each year. The sticker program for seniors will be continued at a rate of $1 per sticker. Stickers for bulk items will be discontinued and residents will be permitted to dispose of one bulk item per week at the curb. There will be six yard waste collections per year. Weekly recycling pickup will be retained.
A variety of commercial collection options are available and a table is included on the website under Administration. Businesses that have four or fewer weekly 35 gallon bags can use the residential rate. A 96 gallon toter option has been added as well as the previous options.
