Bus Services                                                                                                

The Westmoreland Transit Authority provides daily transportation throughout Westmoreland County as well as daily service to Pittsburgh. Its main headquarters is located in Greensburg. Call (724)834-WCTA for a current schedule.                                                

Greyhound Bus service is also available to North Huntingdon Township area residents at certain pick-up stations within the area. Commercial and independent bus lines also call North Huntingdon Township home.

Railways                                                                                                                                 

The nearest railroad station is located in downtown Greensburg. Amtrak passenger trains run directly through this area to other United States destinations. Travel to Washington, D.C. is available via the Pittsburgh train station.

Within an hour's drive of North Huntingdon Township is the Pittsburgh International Airport. This international airport is currently the 18th busiest airport in the United States, serving over 95 national and international cities with over 574 non-stop flights daily. Having completed the new field terminal, the airport is now considered the third largest commercial airport in the United States in total land area (12,400 acres). The Pittsburgh International Airport is serviced by all major airlines with 75 jet gates and 25 commuter gates, making connecting flights from a smaller airport a more feasible option.

The Westmoreland County Airport in Latrobe is approximately 15 miles east of the North Huntingdon area off of Route 30. With runways that handle piston and jet powered aircraft, the Westmoreland County Airport also offers USAir shuttle flights to the Pittsburgh International Airport, as well as charter flights for business.

Allegheny County Airport in West Mifflin, is also a larger regional airport. This airport can handle jets and offers USAir shuttle flights.

Roads and Highways

The Pennsylvania Turnpike, the state's first major superhighway, makes a stop in North Huntingdon Township at exit 7. This interchange with Route 30 in the township area provides important access to Pittsburgh and Monroeville (only 30 minutes away) with little or no congestion. In addition to Route 30, Interstate 70 is the area's second east/west highway, located eight miles from North Huntingdon Township, in New Stanton.
