North Huntingdon Township is glad to welcome Lydia Kinkaid as the new Parks and Recreation Coordinator and member of the team. Lydia brings a diverse background in municipal recreation programming and coordination in both the Pittsburgh and Greensburg areas going back to 2017. She has a Bachelor of Arts from Westminster College.
Lydia has always had a passion for recreation going back to her teenage years as a lifeguard. After receiving her college degree, she was offered her first full time position with the United States Marine Corps’ branch of recreation, Semper Fit, as an Assistant Aquatics Program Manager. It was there that her love for creating and running recreation programming began to flourish and has been a natural progression into the field since then, including a transition from aquatic to general recreation programming.
“I believe I have found my professional calling working in Parks & Recreation and look forward to continuing that calling in North Huntingdon while creating and coordinating programs and special events for the community”, says Lydia.
Lydia believes in establishing a strong set of program offerings for people of all ages to participate in and wants to add even more special events for the community to enjoy throughout the year.
Lydia enthusiastically commented, “I am confident that with the assistance of the Recreation Board and my colleagues, we will be able to provide a robust set of activities for all to enjoy.”
The Board of Commissioners approved her hire at the August 21st public meeting.
