Waste Management will begin delivering over 26,000 trash and recycling carts to residents on December 6th
NORTH HUNTINGDON, PENN. - December 3, 2021 - Residents in North Huntingdon Township are a few weeks away from automated trash and recycling collection services. Automated collection service is a cleaner, more efficient way to perform curbside collection. It is also safer for Waste Management (WM) drivers.
On Monday, December 6, WM’s North Huntingdon Hauling, along with cart vendor Cascade, will prepare to deliver over 26,000 trash and recycling collection carts to residential homes located in North Huntingdon Township.
The delivery is expected to take several weeks, with carts being delivered Monday – Friday until complete. Cascade and WM expect cart delivery to wrap up by the week of December 20, 2021.
Most residents will receive one black 96-gallon trash cart and one 64-gallon blue recycling cart. Residents can also request an additional 96-gallon trash cart by contacting WM. Residents can begin using their carts on their scheduled collection day starting the week of January 3, 2022.
Residents who identify as a senior citizen can contact WM to learn about senior service options.
In addition, WM’s North Huntingdon Hauling site will be servicing residents in the Township with a brand-new fleet of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fueled trucks. For every diesel truck we replace with natural gas we reduce our use of diesel fuel by an average of 8,000 gallons per year along with a reduction of 14 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions per year (the equivalent of a 15 percent emissions reduction per truck).
North Huntingdon Hauling converted its operation to run on CNG in April 2020 and has since deployed 30 CNG trucks into the communities it services.
