North Huntingdon Township is proud to present the Jim Shorkey Sestercentennial Summer Celebration, a 3-day community event celebrating the 250th anniversary of the Township on September 28th, 29th, and 30th from 5 pm until 10 pm nightly. The event will be held at our Public Works grounds and facility located off of Route 30. It will feature carnival attractions, amusement rides, live music, food, and a nightly sky show. The nightly sky shows will feature fireworks on September 28th and 29th but September 30th will offer a unique and exquisite drone show with more than 250 drones! Other festivities will include a presentation of the opened 1973 time capsule contents to community organizations, a chance for community members to donate items for a new time capsule to be buried later this year, and of course some free special 250th anniversary merchandise and swag as a keepsake for everyone who attends the event. Due to the size of the event, attendees will need to park in one of the designated event shuttle lots located at Calvary Church (located on Pennsylvania Avenue), the Westmoreland Transit Authority Park & Ride Lot (located near the Sheetz on Carpenter Ln.), and the Jim Shorkey Kia dealership. Shuttles will begin at 4:30 pm and continue to run at regular intervals until the end of each night’s event.
